Working at a salon is blessing.
You get to make beautiful people who enter the salon feel confident and empowered with the stroke of a brush, the snip of a sheer, the application of a mask. We get to hear life stories, family updates, and create a bond based on trust, all while working behind the chair. As stylists and estheticians, we make ourselves available when you need us. Without you, there would be no Rachel Blythe Studio, and we are honored to be the space for your hair and skincare needs.

Finding time for ourselves throughout the day is crucial to ensure you feel your best. Creating a space for us to build our relationships outside of the salon takes patience, planning, itineraries, and hitting retail goals. Follow along as we give you a look into a weekend getaway that ended in us growing closer, overcoming anxieties, and giving us a place to play and relax. This is our Salon Life.
Deciding Where to Go
Our girl's trip to Winthrop, WA trip had two requirements, stay in a cabin and horseback riding. When looking for a cabin we needed to find one that could bed all six of us! We ended up staying right on the river, walking distance away from the towns and its western themed shops. River's Edge Resort was just that, if you're looking for a place to stay for a trip out to Winthrop make sure to check them out!
The set up was perfect for us and we were lucky to even have a hot tub to soak in! After our three and a half our drive through the beautiful scenic Cascade Mountains. We picked out our beds and played games outside on our balcony. Listening to the peaceful flow of the river really let us settle into the environment and take in the nature surrounding us.
Hitting the Town
Hearing the tap of our heels as we shopped the wooden walkway, ignited our inner cowgirl. A few of our shops were closed when we arrived Sunday morning, but we made it in time for the farmer's market. We each collected pieces that spoke to our heart, hobbies, and interests.
Getting our step goals gave us space for great food at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery, ice cream from the popular Sheri's Sweet Shoppe, and snacks back at the cabin. This trip was not about being healthy, we splurged on the good stuff and indulged in a glass of wine or two.
Returning to the cabin gave us a place to watch movies, play more games, work on crochet projects together, and soak in the hot tub before calling it a night in our cozy beds.
Day two was when the real fun began. Rachel made a beautifully plated breakfast at the cabin. We were treated to warm pancakes, the cheesiest scrambled eggs, and perfectly cooked sausage. We got ready together and counted down the minutes for check out and suggested arrival for our most anticipated event.
We scheduled an hour-long horseback riding trip at the Sun Mountain Lodge. We could not stop yapping about how excited we were to get on horseback. This was not the case for all of us. Horseback riding is a two-spirit sport; yours and the stallions. When a person is mounting the saddle to get adjusted into the stirrups, you can never be too sure how they may react.
As a child, one of our stylists was knocked off a horse resulting in an arm break. This group activity caused a little bit of panic. She left the ranch feeling empowered. We could not have enjoyed the ride without her. It was like the lodge knew each of our personality types. As we lined up with our horses they practically mirrored each of our personalities. It was meant to be.
Stepping away from the salon isn't an easy thing to do. The words of encouragement, recommendations, and excitement from our salon guests made the trip all that much more thrilling, without the need to miss an appointment. This trip brought us closer, helped us understand each other a little better. We came back eager to share the memories and feel renewed for our clients.
While we wish we could do this every weekend, it will be some time before we could do this again, making this girl's trip to Winthrop, WA even more special and memorable for all of us.
Wishing You the Best Summer!
